What's black, white and red all over? McCall's 6886

My Pattern Review

Pattern Description:  Close-fitting, pullover dresses have neckline variations, and stitched hems.

Pattern Sizing: Size 10.

Did it look like the pattern photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes, it did.
I made view D with 3/4 length sleeves.

We're the instructions easy to follow?  I didn't read them since there were only three pattern pieces to the dress.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?  I needed a plain dress without seams or darts.  This was perfect for my fabric choice.

Fabric used?  I used a double knit, border-print from G Street fabrics.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made.  I didn't make any changes to the pattern.  I did however, change the layout of the pattern pieces on the fabric.  I laid them against the grain so I could get the circles down the center of the back and front.  I used what was supposed to be the upper border to cut the sleeves out.  I also used bias tape on the neckline.

Would you sew it again? Yes, this was a super easy dress.  I cut it out (most of my time was spent on this part, matching the border) serged it and hemmed it in less than two hours.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I highly recommend this pattern.

Conclusion. It turned out exactly as I envisioned it!!

  2. Just bought McCall's 6886 because of your recommendation and Carolyn's recommendation on Diary of a Sewing Fanatic. Ponte is on sale at Fabric Mart, so stocked up on that, too. :-) Thanks for a great sewing blog!
