Fashions In the Wild

I did it and had blast!! I made fifteen outfits for the Ladies of Style Bi-annual Fashion Show.
Here's a picture of the me and my models getting ready for the first scene, In the Wild.  I made three outfits for this scene.  All three outfits were McCall's.

My first model wore McCall's 7367 in a  faux leather and snake print maxi and McCall's 7257 in burgundy faux fur.

Model other model wore McCall's 7285 in a giraffe print blouse with blue bell sleeves and a self-drafted faux leather pencil skirt.

I wore McCall's 6355 in a green leopard print knit with faux fur.

April Project

I'm so over my stash-busting, that I went to JoAnne's and came home with this Twill Gravity Rainbow Black Polyester by Nicole Miller and Butterick 6163.

Here's my finished project paired with yellow pumps.

I love black and white photos.

Fashion Show Prep

I'm so excited! I have an opportunity to showcase a collection in a fashion show this October with the Ladies of Style.

I've been busy measuring models, sketching design ideas and buying fabric (my favorite part).  I'm on a roll, have everything spread out in my sewing room.  My plans are looking good. so good that I made a dress! The only thing about this dress is that it's not for the models or the fashion show. I don't know how I happened to pull out a piece of fabric and make myself another dress for work.   It's no secret, I'm a selfish seamstress and  my only client is me, with an occasional garment for my daughters.  This fashion show is taking me out of  my sewing comfort zone which is proving to be a little more challenging than I originally thought.

It's time for me to focus and get busy. Back to my sewing room...

Happy New Year!

I ended 2015 with another self drafted tutu for my daughter.

I underlined the skirt with faux-leather knit and added several layers of mesh to make it "big"

Fast forward a couple of days... I started my new year with Simplicity 1276.  I used stash Scuba Knit and Ponte Knit in the construction of this dress.

I didn't like the shiny side of the Scuba knit against the dull Ponte so I cut it inside out and I love it!

The pattern called for a lining, but my fabric is so thick that I didn't see a need for it.  Since I didn't attach a lining, I turned the neckline seam down in and finished it with a blind stitch.

I continued the color-blocking effect with a blue zipper.
